Despite overwhelming medical evidence that on-field concussions lead directly to brain injuries and frequent tragic repercussions for retired players and their families, the National Football League failed to take effective action to protect players from known risks associated with repeated head trauma. To make matters worse, the NFL concealed relevant and material medical information about treatment protocols from players so they could stay on the field and make Billions of dollars for the NFL. Little by little, information is surfacing that shows that the NFL deliberately covered up medical evidence that shows a clear link between on field concussions and brain injury. While athletes in other sports who had suffered concussions were being told to rest for significant periods of time, the NFL fostered a “tough guy” culture that encouraged teams to send players who had suffered obvious concussions back onto the field too soon putting them at significant risk. In our view, The NFL has failed to take reasonable steps to protect players from devastating, even fatal head injuries. To make matters worse, the NFL has done everything in its power to hide the issue and mislead players, teams and the general public about known medical risks associated with concussions.
