Case Overview

On November 26, 2025, Edward Stone Law P.C. and Bursor & Fisher, P.A. filed a class action lawsuit against State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, asserting claims for breach of fiduciary duty, professional negligence, violations of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, and unjust enrichment, all related to the agreements and relationship between PHL Variable Life Insurance Co. (f/k/a The Phoenix Companies, Inc.) and State Farm.

On March 20, 2026, plaintiffs filed an Amended Complaint. You can read the Amended Complaint here. Defendant State Farm filed a motion to dismiss. Plaintiffs responded to that motion on May 21, 2026. Defendant’s reply was filed on June 11, 2026. A status conference has been scheduled for July 20, 2026.
